A Short History.
The Kent Section was started in the mid 1980’s by John Starkey. The Surrey Section’s Coordinator was Ray Law. Ray used to arrange ride outs starting from Westerham for both the Surrey Section and Kent Section members to attend. As time went on John arranged for the Kent Section to meet at The Portobello Inn, West Kingsdown with Surrey members Mike Holloway, Graham Blunden, Dave Jupp and Colin Day. Dave Jupp is still a regular attendee at our monthly meetings, events and ride outs. Sadly John Starkey tragically lost his life in July 2001 after an accident on the M20. Tony Harmer then stepped up in order to keep the Kent Section running. Sometime later Paul Turk took up the role of Coordinator for the Kent Section and in the past fifteen or more years has arranged many events and ride outs that have been very successful. Paul has since moved on to pastures green up in sunny Yorkshire and Brian Singyard has stepped up to the role of our new Kent area coordinator. Kent Section meetings are still held on the first Thursday of each month and are still very well attended.
